Immersive Learning Video Innovation Competition – Guidelines
Ready to revolutionize education? Calling all IMU University students! Gather a team of up to three and step into IMU CSSC Immersive Studio to develop a groundbreaking learning video. Unleash your creativity by designing engaging, interactive and innovative video-based content that transforms the future of teaching and learning. This competition is a collaboration with IMU Clinical Skills & Simulation Centre (CSSC).

Participants are required to develop an immersive learning video that enhances teaching and learning through engaging, interactive, and innovative video-based design.
Eligibility
- Open to all undergraduate students from IMU University only.
- Participation must be in a group (maximum of 3 members per group)
Participation Guide
- All teams are required to register through the Festival Management System (FMS System) online platform for iLRF2026.
Link: https://elearnzone.imu.edu.my/fms/login - All teams are required to complete registration and make the registration fee payment for each submission before proceeding with the full project submission.
- Teams may choose any topic that is related to healthcare and safety.
- Participation requires using Immersive Studio (https://app.immersive.co.uk)
Materials to Submit:
All entries must submit the following two (2) items:
- Storyboard (PDF)
- Immersive video link (Google Drive – downloadable access required)
1. Storyboard Submission
- Storyboard Requirements
- The storyboard must include:
- Learning outcomes and target learners
- Content flow (scene-by-scene)
- Script or narration cues (what learners will see, hear, and do)
- Hotspot plan (where hotspots appear and what they do)
- Media overlays (text, images, links, prompts)
- Navigation plan (how learners move between scenes or steps)
2. Immersive Video Submission
The immersive video must be submitted via Google Drive with download access enabled.
- Video Requirements
To ensure compatibility with the immersive learning space, the video must meet the following requirements:
- The video content must be related to healthcare and safety.
- Video type: 360° video (spherical video only)
- Export format: Equirectangular (recommended standard for immersive environments)
- Note: Equirectangular format displays the 360° view as a wide rectangular image when viewed on a computer.
- Resolution: Minimum 4K (4096 × 2048)
- Higher resolution is recommended if supported by your camera
- Export Settings (Codec + Bitrate)
- Codec: H.264 or H.265
- Bitrate: 40–50 Mbps
- This ensures optimal quality in immersive viewing environments
Pre-Production Requirements
All teams must plan their learning content before recording any 360° video to ensure alignment with learning outcomes and effective learner engagement.
- Teams are required to develop and finalise a storyboard prior to recording
- The storyboard will form part of the required submission
- Teams must determine an appropriate learning design approach (e.g., scenario-based or linear learning)
The selected approach must be clearly reflected in both the storyboard and the final immersive video.
Development Guidelines
- Development in Immersive Studio
- Create a new experience via: https://app.immersive.co.uk
- Upload the 360° video as the background.
- Set the background type to Equirectangular (recommended), then click Update.
- Hotspot Image Guidelines
- Use PNG format with transparent background for clarity
- Avoid JPG format as it does not support transparency
- Optimise image size based on platform requirements
- Recommended maximum height: ≤ 1200 px
- Do not exceed platform resolution limits to ensure performance stability

The competition will consist of two (2) stages of judging:
- Stage 1 (Online Judging)
- Stage 2 (Physical Judging)
Stage 1 (Online Judging)
- Evaluation will be conducted online and non-face-to-face based on the submitted storyboard and immersive video.
- Judging will be conducted by experienced judges appointed by the organiser.
- Judging will take place one (1) week after the submission deadline.
- Results for the final round will be informed via email.
Stage 2 (Physical Judging)
- The top five (5) teams with the highest scores from stage 1 will be shortlisted for the final round.
- Each team will present and showcase their immersive learning video in the immersivelearning space at IMU University.
- Judges will evaluate each team based on the established judging criteria.
* The organiser reserves the right to amend or modify the competition rules and guidelines if necessary
* The judges’ decision is final
* No appeals will be entertained

- Interprofessional collaboration is encouraged.
- The organiser reserves the right to reject any registration or submission that does not fulfilthe competition requirements.
- All participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement as proof of participation.
- By submitting materials to iLRF 2026, participants grant the organiser the right to publishsubmitted materials on official websites and social media platforms. This includes, but isnot limited to, photographs, videos, written content, and other promotional materials.
- The organiser reserves the right to use submitted videos for teaching and learning purposeswithin IMU University.

Important Dates for Immersive Competition
- Payment and Submission Deadline: 10 July 2026

Cancellation Policy
- Any cancellation of registration must be made in writing to the Secretariat of IMU International Learning Resources Festival 2026 (iLRF2026).
- There will be a full refund of the registration fee for cancellation made by 11 May 2026.
- There will be a 50% refund of the registration fee for cancellation made before 11 June 2026.
- There will be no refund of the registration fee for cancellation made on 12 June 2026 and thereafter.
- The Organiser reserves the right to cancel or change the topic or trainer of the workshop if for whatever reasons beyond its control, the workshop cannot be held as scheduled, or the topics need to be altered.
